too quiet

thought i’d holler downstairs to see what our son was up to since it had gotten so quiet – usually he’s acting out some loud scene from a movie.

he informed me that he was creating an obstacle course. ??

i said that was ok as long as he didn’t use the pillows from the couches and to be sure to clean up when he was done.

with my super sonic ears i heard a very quiet, “why is she trying to ruin my life?
he’ll be really mad when i serve him worms and dog saliva for supper. muhooo ahh ahh ahh!

love your blog. I just linked over from Janette’s….entirely too cool. Mine is ever so boring compared to yours. I don’t know how to add all the little fun things…so that could be part of it. And I agree – what a great parent!

    Liz!!! I miss you!

Paul – that’s why we’re such a good team. I have good hearing, you have a good attitude.

You really are a funny little girlie!! I love this! :) Your kids are SO blessed to have you for their mommy.

I have to share this with you because you said that you wanted “tips” on mommy/girl bonding things? Didn’t you? Maybe I’m just dreaming. :) Anway…

It isn’t just a mom/daughter thing – it’s a mom/kid(s) thing. We do this every summer … my kids each think of three things that they want to do over the summer. All activities have to be able to be completed in a day’s time and have to be affordable. I have them fund part of the activity if it is “costly”. We put each activity in a jar (we have a mason jar that we use) in the kitchen and we draw once a week. I put in my three activities, too. So far this summer we have – gone to “All Star Adventures”, gone to “Baskin Robbins” (yep, there is one on the west side of town), visited Old Town. I’m hoping that the “painting rocks” one will be drawn soon – I love that one!!

I started doing this about five years ago, because I realized that we had gotten to the end of the summer and thought….”did you all get to do all of the things you wanted to do this summer?? if you didn’t … it’s too stinkin’ late now!!”

We have done all kinds of things over the years — gone to Dillons to get flavored water (yep, that was one one year), taken a day trip to Kechi … visiting the antique stores and having lunch, etc…

    It’s just an idea.

I think you are an awesome mom. I am going to miss you all next year. CCA is losing a great family. :(

Beth – what a great idea!! we’ll have to do this – i can handle the flavored water. :) Thanks for sharing.
We’re going to miss you too – who knows, we may be back. We really do love CCA. We wanted to try something smaller and a little different – mainly for H’s sake.
